connecting with the weird
this expression is part of a spiritual practice of connecting with the weird. "weird as in the origins of the word wyrd...as in freaky, awkward,...as in queer, as in dance, as in in-between places..." (1) this practice involves blurring the lines between what is real and imagined, between human and non-human, connecting with the strange, the humorous, the whimsical and magical, in order to inspire new ways of perceiving the world. here are some of the creatures born of my wild imagination.

1- this understanding of the word "wyrd" was introduced to me by my teachers at Weaving Earth: tayla shanaye, brontë velez and Lauren Hage.
